The Southern Gauteng Hockey Association site needed to carry up to date information about their leagues as well as providing information to members of the Hockey community about what was going on in their region. Their previous site was still not working properly after one year.
Using a free sports league management programe all the League fixtures for Men and Women (16 in all) were entered and visitors are able to see details in their Leagues at a glance. The source code of this programme can be altered to display the venues of matches alongside each fixture. This programe also provides a display of the top scorers in the Leagues though this is limited to the Premier Leagues only.
Standard documents needed to be available and this is done via a free document management component.
A weekly newsletter needed to be distributed. This is done by a free mass mailing component that allows for each newsletter to be sent out using an customised template. All registered users get the newsletter.
All the latest news can be automatically posted to Twitter as the title of the article and a link to the article.
A directory of all Clubs and relevant contacts is provided through a free business directory component.
Customised forms allow clubs to enter their team lists that can then be exported into Excel to create match sheets for a game. They also allow for online submission of Red card reports and player registration.
Set up time: 1 day for the basics, 2 weeks to enter all the data for over 1300 matches, ongoing news items and results service.
Cost: R20 000 (includes data entry and ongoing maintenance, writing news items and sending weekly newsletters for one year)
